Child and Play Therapy

Therapy conducted in collaboration with the family, which gives the child room to express their feelings and experiences through play, their most natural language.

Children often express what they experience not in words but through play. Child-Centred Play Therapy is a method based on Carl Rogers' client-centred approach and used with children aged roughly 2-10. In a carefully prepared playroom, the child expresses themselves within a safe relationship in which they feel accepted and understood.

The process begins with an initial meeting with the parents and taking a developmental history. In the first sessions with the child, assessment is carried out through play, observation and, where necessary, children's drawings. Throughout therapy, the family is involved in the process through regular parent sessions.

With older children, age-appropriate cognitive behavioural techniques are also used as needed.
